SINGAPORE, April 1, 2025 – The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has appointed Tamara Singh as its new Managing Director for Singapore and Senior Advisor for Regional Programs, as the organisation seeks to strengthen its climate and conservation impact across the Asia-Pacific region. She takes over from Thomas Brzostowski, who served as Interim Singapore Country Director.
In her new role, Singh will spearhead TNC’s efforts to drive climate action and conservation initiatives from Singapore, leveraging the city-state’s strategic position as a hub for innovation, science, partnerships, and fundraising. Her leadership will be central to accelerating the adoption of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) across the region and beyond.
With over 20 years of experience in energy, finance, and sustainability, Singh has worked with major global firms, including Centrica, BP, Deutsche Bank, and Macquarie Bank, across London, New York, and the Asia-Pacific. Since returning to Singapore in 2012, she has been at the forefront of digital transformation and sustainable finance initiatives. She also serves as a Sherpa for APEC’s Asia-Pacific Financial Forum Sustainable Finance Development Network and is a member of the Global Finance & Technology Network, advising on corporate transitions towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Will McGoldrick, Regional Managing Director for Asia-Pacific at TNC, welcomed Singh’s appointment, stating: “Tamara’s leadership strengthens TNC’s ability to drive meaningful climate action and conservation impact across Asia-Pacific. As we scale up solutions to tackle the world’s most pressing environmental challenges, her deep expertise in sustainable finance and her ability to connect the private and public sectors will be invaluable. She will play a key role in advancing our 2030 goals while reinforcing Singapore’s status as a global conservation and climate finance hub.”
Singh expressed her enthusiasm for the new role, saying: “Joining one of the world’s most respected conservation organisations at a time when the urgency for science-driven climate action has never been greater is both an honour and a responsibility. TNC’s collaborative approach, grounded in science and innovation, has already made a significant impact. I look forward to working with our partners to drive nature-positive solutions that benefit both people and the planet.”
TNC launched its Singapore programme in late 2022, positioning the city-state as a global centre for conservation innovation and climate impact. The initiative aligns with Singapore’s 2030 Green Plan and focuses on four key priorities: scaling up NbS and carbon markets, fostering research collaborations, innovating impact finance solutions, and strengthening corporate partnerships across the region.
In a bid to bolster regional collaboration, TNC joined seven other non-governmental organisations in 2023 to form the Southeast Asia Climate and Nature-based Solutions (SCeNe) Coalition, which aims to accelerate the development of high-quality NbS projects. The coalition seeks to drive projects that deliver environmental, social, and economic benefits across the region.
As Singapore continues to position itself as a leader in sustainable finance and climate action, Singh’s appointment signals TNC’s commitment to driving impactful and science-led conservation efforts across the Asia-Pacific.
